Research Team | Special Topics

The Special Topics Area primarily conducts economic policy-oriented research on regional economic issues. The focus is on analyses of the economy of Schleswig-Holstein and the economies of the Baltic Sea region. These analyses are carried out under the umbrella of the Kiel Institute’s “nordwärts initiative,” for which the area is responsible. The results of the area’s analyses are published in economic policy-oriented publication series as well as in academic journals. The area also organizes the annual “nordwärts conference” and compiles the data and text collections for the “nordwärts dashboard,” which are further components of the “nordwärts initiative.”
