Innovation and International Competition

Innovation and technological change are among the most important drivers of trade and globalization, especially in times of crisis when political support for globalization is declining in many countries. At the same time, new technologies are increasingly at the center of trade policy conflicts between Europe, the US and China.  Against this background, we investigate the factors that drive or impede the creation and commercial application of new knowledge, the interactions between innovation and internationalization at the firm level, and the effects of innovation and technology policy in industrialized and emerging countries. The research group has published extensively in leading economics journals and is also very active in providing policy advice on trade and technology policy issues.
