H2ignite – Igniting H2 Transport Innovation Ecosystems in the North Sea Region
Start of Project: 01.09.2024 — End of Project: 31.08.2027
H2ignite aims to foster cross-sector collaboration to identify and overcome obstacles to the deployment of green hydrogen value chains for heavy-duty transport in the North Sea Region. Four regional hydrogen innovation ecosystems (so-called ‘pilots’) that aim to establish regional H2 value chains for heavy duty trucks or vessels in France, the Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden are supported by academic and applied research on the economic environment, innovative business models, a suitable legal and regulatory framework and good practices in policy support.
Kiel Institut contributes to several activities in H2ignite. It coordinates research activities on identifying good practices of regional innovation policies for H2 ecosystems on the backdrop of the recent theoretical and empirical literature on directed technological change in green technologies. It also coordinates the development of an evaluation concept for H2 innovation ecosystems and the practical application of this concept in the evaluation of the four H2ignite pilot activities.
