Since September 2025, Cathrin Mohr has been serving as Associate Professor for International Political Economy and Geoeconomics at the Kiel Institute and the University of Hamburg. Previously, she was a postdoctoral researcher and substitute professor of Macroeconomics at the University of Bonn, as well as a postdoctoral researcher at LMU Munich, where she also earned her Ph.D. summa cum laude. Her dissertation was titled “The Power of the State in German History – Development and Political Economy”. During her Ph.D., she was a visiting doctoral researcher at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard University under Prof. Daniel Ziblatt. Her research focuses on political economy, geoeconomics, and economic history. In 2019, her job market paper received the Unicredit Econ Job Market Best Paper Award.
