Despite the intense international competition, the Schleswig-Holstein economy has recovered in terms of growth and employment. This recovery is due to the country's highly competitive industrial companies, which are well positioned in Europe and overseas growth markets. However, many high-quality industrial jobs have been reduced in the last 15 years, while the share of low-paid service employment has grown steadily. If prosperity in Schleswig-Holstein is to be positive in the long term, the well-paid industrial employment must be maintained in the country. It also requires a larger proportion of high-quality service jobs in order to develop Schleswig-Holstein into a prospering high-tech and science location in the long term.
