Jobs for Schleswig-Holstein in Globalization (original publication German only)

Due to the global competition for productions, even in Schleswig-Holstein not only low-income jobs but also higher-income workers are exposed to a potential risk of relocation. The long-term challenge of economic policy is to safeguard jobs without suffering income losses at the same time. The author shows that the promotion of globalization-distant but low-paid activities would therefore be counterproductive. On the contrary, economic policy would be well advised to support a consistent increase in the qualification of local employees on a broad front. The promotion of high-quality jobs and qualifications, even if they could easily be relocated abroad, should be seen as an opportunity for globalization gains.
