Europe has failed to provide sufficient military support to Ukraine to make up for the loss of US assistance since President Donald Trump returned to power this year, according to the latest data from the Kiel Institute. ... "The recent slowdown makes it difficult for Europe to fully offset the absence of US military aid in 2025," Christoph Trebesch, the Head of the Ukraine Support Tracker said. If the current pace persists, "2025 will become the year with the lowest level of new aid allocations ever for Ukraine." ... The Kiel Institute report showed France, Germany, and the UK increased their aid allocations substantially. But measured relative to their 2021 GDP, all three remained well below the Nordic donors, including Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Contributions from Italy and Spain have been relatively small, according to the report.
