Freezone World Economic Barometer

The Freezone World Economic Barometer (F-WEB), established in early 2018, is a sentiment indicator designed to gauge the current momentum of economic activity in the Free Zones and give indication about future trends. The questionnaire is web-based and user-friendly consisting of easy-to-answer qualitative questions on current developments and expectations regarding a limited number of key variables (turnover, output, investment, prices, etc.). The indicator is calculated on a quarterly basis and published four times a year in a separate note. A comprehensive evaluation of the F-WEB results will be presented in the annual World Freezones Economic Outlook. Based on a broad base of members of the WFZO it has the potential to provide a new genuine source of information about economic trends at the global level, comparable to what PMI indicators are at the national level.

Given a broad based participation of Free Zone representatives it has the potential to provide a new genuine source of information about economic trends at the global level, comparable to what PMI indicators are at the national level. More information on the design and methodology of the F-WEB can be found here.
