Support to University of Rwanda – Strengthening MSc Programme in Economics and Research

The GIZ Macroeconomic and Investment Policies (MIP) programme supports the Rwandan Government in developing and strengthening capacities and institutions for economic analysis and evidence-based policy-making.

Start of Project: 2019 — End of Project: 2021

This project aims to help build these capacities by:

  • Setting up an internationally recognized MSc in Economics with specialization in Applied Quantitative Economics (AQE) at the College of Business and Economics of the University of Rwanda (UR-CBE). Through joint lectures and coaching of national lecturers by international lecturers the medium-term goal is to make the programme self-sustained and obtain international accreditation in due course
  • Establishing a research agenda and parallel integration of the UR-CBE into a network of universities and research institutions so as to enhance the research skills of lecturers and professors.
