Bernhard Harms Prize

Since 1964, the Kiel Institute's Bernhard Harms Prize has been awarded biennially to distinguished scholars for their outstanding research in international economics and for exceptional efforts to promote global economic relations. The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros and is named after Bernhard Harms, who founded the Kiel Institute in 1914. It is sponsored by the Society for the Advancement of the Kiel Institute.

The prize is awarded by decision of the Prize Board of the Society for the Advancement of the Kiel Institute and is presented in an academic ceremony. The "Bernhard-Harms-Lecture" held at this event has been published in the journal "Review of World Economics / Weltwirtschaftliches Archiv" for several years.

The Bernhard-Harms-Prize was first awarded in 1964 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Kiel Institute.
