Since January 2025, Taro Nishikawa has been a researcher at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, where he is the project lead of the Ukraine Support Tracker.

He holds a Master's degree in International Affairs from the Hertie School in Berlin, where he specialized in international security and quantitative research.

Prior to his graduate studies, Taro served as an army officer in the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, gaining over four years of experience in military logistics and security cooperation.
