Frauke Steglich joined the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in 2016. She is the co-host of the Research Network Sustainable Global Supply Chains at the Kiel Institute and a Research Fellow at the Kiel Centre for Globalization (KCG). From November 2020 to December 2022, she was the Managing Director of the Poverty Reduction, Equity and Growth Network (PEGNet). She is a doctoral candidate in Quantitative Economics at Kiel University and holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Kiel University.

Her research interests lie in empirical international economics and development, focusing on foreign direct investment, global value chains, corporate social responsibility, and globalization's social and environmental effects. In particular, she is interested in the impacts of firms' integration in global value chains and the role of (sustainable) corporate governance for firms and regional development. To study these issues, she analyzes detailed firm-level databases using modern micro-econometric methods with a regional focus on Sub-Saharan Africa and India.
