Carsten Philipp Brockhaus is a doctoral student at the University of Kiel and a researcher at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. As empirical economist as well as a member of the Trade Policy Research Center he is working on the modeling of trade flows by means of so-called gravity models.

In his research, he combines current methods from the field of artificial intelligence with conventional topics in economics.

Carsten studied economics and law in Göttingen and Pune (India).
