Worldwide, and especially in developing countries, young people remain particularly disadvantaged in labor markets. That is why helping young people to enter the labor market continues to be a major policy priority for governments and international donor organizations. Skills training programs for youth are commonly used to improve their career prospects. The policy brief gives an overview of different training programs and summarizes the current debate about their effectiveness. Moreover, it presents new evidence from impact evaluations of such programs in low-income countries. Finally, the policy brief points out key constraints for youth in low income structures and showcases features of job training programs that have proven successful.
