2nd Kiel-CEPR Conference on Monetary Policy - Central Bank Independence in the Spotlight
The second Kiel-CEPR Conference on Monetary Policy will take place in Berlin on May 5-6, 2026 to present and discuss the latest cutting-edge economic research in monetary macroeconomics. The call for papers is now open on the CEPR website!

We invite full paper submissions for the 2nd Kiel-CEPR Monetary Policy Conference - Central Bank Independence in the Spotlight taking place on May 5-6, 2026 in Berlin.
Paper contributions should address issues related to monetary policy in a broad sense, with the conference’s core focus on the role of central bank independence. Both theoretical and empirical contributions are welcome.
Topics may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Inflation, central bank independence and trust in political institutions
- Distributional effects of inflation and/or monetary policy
- Macroeconomic expectations, macroeconomic shocks and uncertainty
- Central bank communication in times of political shocks
- International spillover effects of inflation and/or monetary policy
- Interaction between trade policy, fiscal policy and monetary policy
- Political economy of inflation
Travel Funding
Travel expenses and accommodation in Berlin may be covered for presenting authors in accordance with the CEPR travel guidelines. If you require funding, please indicate this at the time of paper submission.
Meals and refreshments will be provided for all participants during the conference.
Paper Submissions
- Submit your paper online via the CEPR HUB by January 18, 2026.

- Only full drafts of papers will be considered.
- Each paper submission should include an abstract (200 words max).
- Submit your document in PDF format.
The deadline for submission is 23:59 CET on January 18, 2026. We aim to notify successful applications by end of January 2026.
